John Reinlie is a seasoned drummer and percussionist known for a keen ear and dynamic, expressive playing. His passion for music and joy in performing have made him a respected presence in Northwest Florida.
Raised in a musical family, Reinlie’s earliest encouragement came from his father, also a drummer. After studying percussion in school, he set out in pursuit of a life as a musician. Soon, he found mentorship under Duke Bardwell and a string of key influential musicians in Walton County, Florida. Here he discovered a community that championed music, art and creativity, making a life long career in music a reality. Reinlie would soon lay roots and continues to reside in Walton County.
Beyond the drum kit, Reinlie is an accomplished washboard player who studied under beloved musician Franko “Washboard” Jackson. He carries on Jackson’s distinctive style, preserving a unique musical tradition while making it his own. Today, washboard has become as much a part of Reinlie’s musical identity as drumming.
Over the years, Reinlie has played valuable roles in regional acts such as Hubba Hubba, Dread Clampitt, The Owsley Brothers and more. He currently performs regularly with MECO, Dion Jones & The Neon Tears, Bill Garrett and The Steenos. He proudly supports his local music community and continues to collaborate with a long list of the area’s finest musicians.
